Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How is it determined to delay or cancel services?
When our region is faced with inclement weather, we will do the best we can to safely provide service. At Waste Connections our goal is to service every customer on their scheduled pickup day, however if we are unable to safely operate our fleet, services may be delayed or postponed. We study forecasted weather reports, announced closures (schools), and operation managers do spot checks of the roads through out Clark County starting at 2:00 am to determine if the public road conditions are safe to carry out collections in each service area.
Q: How will you notify customers?
Please check our web page at wcnorthwest.com or call customer service at 892-5370 for updates and instructions on how to set out for pickup. City of Vancouver and Clark County web sites will also have service delay information. In some cases we will do phone calls and/or email blasts to affected customers.
Q: Why was my recycle driver able to make it down my street but not my garbage driver?
Weather and road conditions can change rapidly. Your recycle driver may have come earlier when the road conditions were favorable or after the road has cleared up. Each driver will determine if he can safely access your street to pick up your services.
Q: Will I need to wait 2 weeks to get my next recycle or yard debris empty?
Yes, unfortunately we will not be picking up recycle or yard debris until the next scheduled pickup day. You will be able to set out double your service level at no additional charge or we can credit back for the missed pickup.
Q: Why can I drive down my street but you can not make it to pick up my services?
Consideration must be given to safety of getting trucks from our yard to routes and back to the transfer center. On average an empty garbage truck weighs 25,000 lbs. When this heavy of a vehicle is in motion and loses traction it is very difficult to stop and/or gain control.
